Inquiries continue into alleged fraud against former prime minister Julia Gillard

The message from Truss was obtained by the ABC under freedom of information rules and the following day Rudd released a statement confirming he had held the meetings and would resign.

It said: “I had had an opportunity to hear from the bank’s chief executive just a few days ago. He acknowledged that Warren Truss had held executive meetings for several of the bank’s clients in the early 2000s where the Australian government was present.”

The statement added Truss had been given the opportunity to discuss the matter again with Mr Rudd a year later.

The minister denied the email reference was directed at the Labor leader.

The Serbs on Monday signed an agreement with Kosovo to accept the independence of Kosovo and to become an independent state.
